For school leaders Do any parents question the use of technology in your school?

A principal of a state primary school in Melbourne mentioned the one or two parents in his school community who were throwing up barriers at any opportunity, to ‘dissuade’ the school from going down a technology pathway for learners.

Why does technology matter?

There can be no denying that learners are ‘switched on’ to technology.  They use technology as a natural enabler in their daily lives. Technology allows us to learn about the world through the world. Simple premise. Schools where learners are left behind because of parents who do not understand the importance of technology should ‘balance their books.’

Do we suppress or delay the opportunities for 99% of the learning cohort (teachers included) or do we act by our convictions to bring the world to our classrooms, disappointing the vocal minority ?
